Former Taylor High School girls' varsity high school basketball coach Randy "Scott" Sullivan is in legal hot water as he was recently arrested and charged with child solicitation and s*xual battery.
Fox59 reported that Sullivan faces three felony charges at the moment, including child solicitation, s*xual battery, and dissemination of matter harmful to minors. The Taylor School Corporation also revealed that he has been terminated from his position.
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the former girls' basketball coach allegedly sent explicit photos and videos to an underaged victim. That victim is believed to be a Taylor High School student and one of the girls that he was coaching.
Investigators also found that Sullivan allegedly sent those inappropriate photos and videos from his home, and the phone number he sent them from also belonged to him.
As [er Fox59, investigations into Sullivan began on September 25, with investigators from the Howard County Sheriff’s Office looking into the things he sent to the victim. They also spoke to her and found that he allegedly tried to groom her as he reportedly drove her to basketball practice and school events on a regular basis.
The victim admitted that she initially thought that this was just a simple act of kindness but then also told investigators that he eventually tried to get more intimate with her. She added that she pushed him away “over a hundred” times in an effort to get away from his advances.
In addition, the victim also told investigators that the former coach also threatened suicide if she ever told anybody. Sullivan also reportedly provided her with vapes multiple times and had other victims as well.
Taylor High School releases official statement about former coach's arrest
Soon after Sullivan's arrest, Taylor Community School Corporation superintendent Steve Dishon answered questions from concerned parents regarding the arrest and what protocols would be placed to ensure the safety of the students.
When asked about teachers or staff members taking students to and from practice and school events, Dishon replied that this would no longer be tolerated and added:
"There won't be any musical lessons that are one-on-one. All lessons, all group activities will be in groups."
Dishon also confirmed that there will be additional training not just for Taylor High School faculty and staff, but also for students, with a new set of guidelines being implemented.
Currently, Sullivan is being held at the Howard County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He is now also banned from Taylor High School property and getting involved with any of the school's students.
