Four-star tight end Mack Sutter, from Dunlap High School in Dunlap, Illinois, is a highly touted prospect in the 2026 class. He's the son of ex-NFL player, Ed Sutter, who was also a standout player at Richwoods High School and Northwestern University.
The prospect has received more than 30 scholarship offers from the Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, SEC and Pac 12. He's now exploring his options before making his commitment decision.
Sutter’s recruitment journey has been marked by a series of college visits, often tied into family vacations. Since May, he has explored various campuses, with his next trip scheduled for Aug. 31 to Hugh Freeze's Auburn. He shared the news on X:
"I will be at Auburn University on August 31! @EDGYTIM @AllenTrieu @SWiltfong_ @GregSmithRivals."
Sutter has impressed coaches not only as a tight end but also as a quarterback and linebacker.
His sophomore year at Dunlap High earned him a spot on the all-Mid-Illini Conference first team. During that season, Mack Sutter recorded 20 tackles and five tackles for loss as a linebacker, while also throwing for 710 yards and eight touchdowns as a quarterback.
Mack Sutter is rated as the No. 160 overall player in the nation, the No. 8 tight end in the 2026 class and the No. 3 recruit in Illinois, according to On3. 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 151 overall player in the nation, the No. 10 tight end in the class and the No. 5 recruit in the state.
Which programs are in the mix for Mack Sutter's commitment?
Mach Sutter has revealed his top 12 schools: Alabama, Tennessee, Illinois, Ole Miss, Missouri, Nebraska, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State, Auburn, Michigan and Iowa. But he's committed to taking a slow and thoughtful approach to his decision.
“I’m trying to take it slow. It’s a fun process, just trying to stay humble through it," Sutter told CIProud. "It’s a once in a lifetime chance. Growing up, it was always my dream to play Division 1 football. Play on the biggest level I could."
According to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Iowa Hawkeyes have an 84.7% chance of securing Sutter’s pledge, which may be due to his early and frequent visits to Iowa City.
"Iowa was kind of the first place I started visiting," Sutter told AL. "They were kind of big on me first. 'Tight End U,' they're known as."
The Hawkeyes have offensive tackle Carson Nielsen committed to the 2026 class. While Iowa is leading the race for his signature, several other programs are also on the hunt. Ole Miss has a 2.9% chance of landing Mack Sutter, followed by Auburn at 2.5% and Wisconsin at 1.1%.
