Four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs is one of the most promising players in Florida State's 2025 class. On Friday, Boggs cemented his name in Florida high school football history with a record-breaking performance for Cocoa High School (Cocoa, FL).
Boggs recorded 17 receptions for 378 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-21 win over Cardinal Mooney High School (Sarasota, FL) in the Class 2A state semifinals. He broke Lake Nona's (Orlando, FL) Ryan Sousa's 2013 single-game record of 358 receiving yards.
Boggs added a nine-yard rush and a 14-yard punt return.
"(It's) crazy to be honest," Boggs told Florida Today after the record-breaking performance. "But just blessed."
The victory brings Cocoa closer to its third consecutive state championship, following its 2023 Class 2S state title and an impressive 14-1 season. Boggs spoke highly of the program's legacy.
"Cocoa High School is a powerhouse, and it has been one for years." Boggs said (via News 6). "We’re trying to continue that legacy of it being a powerhouse.”
Boggs stole the show, but his quarterback, Brady Hart, also delivered a memorable performance. The signal-caller completed 32-of-52 passes for 508 yards and three touchdowns. He added a season-high 43 rushing yards on 12 carries.
Hart was once committed to Michigan's 2026 class. But he reclassified to the 2025 class last month and flipped to Texas A&M after the Wolverines secured the commitment of five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.
Jayvan Boggs can break another record next week
Jayvan Boggs has amassed 2,020 receiving yards on 93 catches with 20 touchdowns this season. He needs just 140 yards to surpass Jaivon Heiligh's Florida single-season receiving record of 2,159 yards, set in 2017 when Heiligh recorded 131 receptions and 32 touchdowns.
Boggs totaled 86 receptions, 1,504 yards and 24 touchdowns last season. He is ranked the No. 69 prospect, the No. 12 wide receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 16 prospect from Florida, according to Rivals.
Jayvan Boggs flipped his commitment from UCF to Florida State on Wednesday and signed with the Seminoles. The decision came after former UCF coach Gus Malzahn was named the Seminoles' new offensive coordinator.
