Wide receiver Vance Spafford has been a hot name in the 2026 recruiting class. He has already received offers from multiple programs, including Auburn, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Oregon State, San Diego State, TCU, Utah and Washington, among others.
In June alone, the four-star prospect received offers from Arizona State, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Cincinnati. He kicked off July with an offer from the Toledo Rockets and recently announced an offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers on X/Twitter, writing:
"Extremely Blessed to receive an Offer to the University Of Nebraska !! All Glory To God !!! @MozeeJ43 @s_kwilli32."
In an interview with On3, Spafford mentioned that Ole Miss, Oregon, Arizona State, TCU and Oregon State are the programs currently standing out to him for his commitment. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently trends toward San Jose for his pledge with an 8.8% chance, followed by Arizona State at 7.7%, California at 6.6% and Utah at 5.5%.
Spafford is ranked as the nation’s No. 245 overall prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 34 wide receiver and the No. 23 prospect in California, according to On3. 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 181 overall prospect in the class, the No. 29 wide receiver and the No. 20 prospect in California.
Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 175 pounds, Spafford may not be the biggest receiver, but his impact on the field could be sensed from his sophomore season at Mission Viejo. He broke single-season receiving records that year, catching 83 balls for 1,576 yards and 22 touchdowns.
What recruitment analysts are saying about Vance Spafford's potential?
Vance Spafford is planning to commit next year, but he has already earned heavy praise from several recruiting analysts. According to national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, Spafford combines both speed and agility on the field.
"Is both quick and fast, plays out wide and in the slot, can stretch the field, is very good after the catch and has great hands," Biggins wrote. "Strong body allows him to beat press, win contested catches and routinely breaks 1-2 tackles in the open field."
Cody Bellaire from On3 raved about Vance Spafford's exceptional route running:
"His route running and ability to get in and out of breaks while still being able to stretch the field vertically is mesmerizing. He tracks the ball so comfortably and makes every catch look easy."
Bellaire pointed to Spafford's crucial role in the success of California Power during the OT7 Championship, where his strategic approach dismantled opposing defenses.
"His multi-level paper cutting of defenses made him extremely unpredictable for opponents. His burst and top-end speed made him a consistent vertical threat as he burned defenders down the sideline for scores early on throughout the weekend."
Accolades such as Dream Team honors at the OT7 Finals prove Vance Spafford's impact and potential at the national level. Even during the Under Armour Future 50 event, Spafford made a one-handed catch that capped off an outstanding performance on Day 1. Beyond football, his impressive sprint times include a 10.81-second 100m dash this spring.
