Four-star cornerback Shamar Arnoux is one of the most promising prospects in USC's 2025 class, which ranks No. 11 in the nation. On Sept. 25, Miami coach Mario Cristobal offered him to be with the Hurricanes this cycle and has become a serious contender to flip him from the Trojans.
Arnoux made his way back to South Florida last weekend to attend Miami's game against the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday, and the Hurricanes won 36-14. Speaking with On3's Steve Wiltfong, he had heavy praise for the Miami coaching staff, saying:
“I enjoyed the Miami trip. I got to spend some time and get to know the coaching staff. From what I noticed, Coach Cristobal is definitely a players’ coach and Coach (Chevis) Jackson is no B.S. teacher of the game. He played at the highest level, the NFL, and tries to teach techniques that will translate to the league."
During his visit, Arnoux also immersed himself in the culture of Miami football.
"I learned about the history of Miami as a culture and like a community on my campus tour," Arnoux shared with InsideTheU.
Miami insider Izubee Charles suggested that the visit was crucial for the Hurricanes in their quest to attract Arnoux. Even the prospect himself also noted his appreciation for Miami's approach to player rotation, mentioning that the coaching staff provides ample opportunities for various defensive backs.
This exposure could play a crucial role in his decision-making process, especially as Miami remains unbeaten so far this season. It is poised to compete in both the College Football Playoff and ACC Championship. Meanwhile, USC is 4-4 this season with a 2-4 record in the Big Ten.
Shamar Arnoux gives an update about his USC commitment
Shamar Arnoux is playing his senior season football at Carrollton High School in Georgia, where he plays alongside five-star quarterback and fellow Trojans commit Julian Lewis.
While Lewis has been linked heavily to Colorado, Arnoux isn’t ready to spark any flip rumor from USC. Before his Saturday visit to Miami, Arnoux reaffirmed his commitment to the Trojans, saying (via On3):
“I’m not one of those players who really gets too caught up on recruiting and I am still committed to USC, but I’m just weighing all my options in the hope of making the best decision for me, my family and my future."
Arnoux was previously committed to Tennessee but de-committed in February before pledging to USC. Besides Miami, Hugh Freeze's Auburn is also targeting him for a potential flip.
Shamar Arnoux is rated as a four-star by Rivals, while On3, 247 Sports and ESPN list him as a three-star. He is the nation's No. 122 overall prospect, the No. 12 cornerback in the 2025 class and the No. 13 recruit in Georgia.
