LSU closed out the Early Signing Period on Wednesday with a significant addition to its roster, flipping Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines five-star interior offensive lineman Solomon Thomas from Florida State.

Ranked as the No. 32 overall prospect and the No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class, Thomas had been committed to FSU since December 2023. However, recent coaching staff changes and LSU’s recruiting efforts ultimately shifted his decision.

"But I'm glad it's over, honestly. I was ready to get it over with. Again, just really disappointed I couldn't go to Florida State," Thomas told News4JAX on Wednesday.

After Thomas officially signed with LSU, the college football community on X had mixed reactions.

One fan commented:

“In other words, FSU didn’t call with a big enough bag.”

Another stated:

“Bro just chasing the bag, smh.”

Here is how other fans expressed their reactions.

"This is a lie. The kid spoke poorly about FSU and wanted to be in the SEC," a fan quipped.
"'Florida state wouldn’t pay me enough and now I’m sad I can’t go there' bro what," a fan remarked.
"FSU fans he couldn't because the scene was so bad, he would of if you guys were even 5-6," another fan remarked

Earlier this month, FSU coach Mike Norvell dismissed offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins, wide receivers coach Ron Dugans and defensive coordinator Adam Fuller.

In a video shared on X by The Sports Den, Thomas explained his decision:

“I had a conversation with LSU’s offensive line coach. He gave me the same energy and support I felt from Florida State’s staff before. I made my final decision when I felt at peace with it, probably just yesterday. This is more than a commitment—it’s my life now.”

With Thomas on board, LSU’s offensive line recruiting reaches new heights, securing the No. 1 offensive line prospects in Florida (Thomas), Mississippi (Tyler Miller) and Arkansas (Carius Curne).

LSU secures five-star OL Solomon Thomas, adding depth to a rebounding class

Solomon Thomas’ decision to flip from Florida State to LSU delivered a critical boost to the Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class. Thomas’ decommitment marks another setback for a struggling Seminoles recruiting class.

Florida State has seen 10 players leave its 2025 class since the start of the season, including eight ESPN 300 prospects. The departures followed a disappointing 2-10 season, with Thomas’ exit compounding the damage.

In an interview with On3, Thomas praised the Tigers’ offensive line program.

“They’re different,” Thomas said. “They’re different. I can say that. Coach (Brad) Davis and the expectations that he has for his offensive line is different. The players that he has are different. Of course they have Coach Davis but kudos to Will (Campbell) and Emery (Jones). Emery is a dog. And so is Will."

Thomas’ signing caps a strong finish for LSU’s 2025 class after notable losses earlier this year, including five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood to Michigan and four-star cornerback Kade Phillips to Texas. The Tigers also landed five-star athlete D.J. Pickett (No. 16) and No. 1 running back Harlem Berry (No. 26), bolstering their roster.
