Nashville Christian’s standout quarterback, Jared Curtis, a five-star talent in the 2026 recruiting class, hosted Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo at his home on Thursday. The visit marked a significant step in Georgia’s efforts to remain in contention for Curtis following his October 17 decommitment.

Curtis, who had originally pledged to Georgia on March 23, explained his decision to reopen his recruitment in October.

“That morning, I called coach (Mike) Bobo, coach (Kirby) Smart…told them about the news," Curtis said. "Of course, they took it how I expected they would, no hard feelings. Obviously they’re not out of the race yet, you know, love them guys and I’d love to get back up there and talk to them.
"But you know, I just wanted to visit other places and not be committed, so that’s what I’m going to do, and still keeping Georgia in the way.” (h/t On3)

Earlier in the week, Jared Curtis had also met with Auburn quarterbacks coach Kent Austin. Following a state championship victory last month, Curtis revealed his recruitment priorities and highlighted a select group of schools.

“I have it narrowed down to some schools, but I’d say we have taken it back to square one,” Curtis told On3. “South Carolina, Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, USC and Ohio State are the main ones right now. I will wait until official visits to make my decision. I will get out more.
"When official visits open up, I will get down on some visits, see the school and see what I like about it."

State champion Jared Curtis honored as Gatorade Player of the Year

At 6-foot-3.5 and 225 pounds, Jared Curtis has solidified his status as one of the nation’s most exceptional football talents. He is ranked as the No. 4 prospect in the country and the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 cycle by the On3 Industry Ranking.

On3 has rated Curtis particularly high, placing him at No. 3 in its latest 2026 On300 update. His on-field success has earned him widespread recognition, including being named Gatorade Tennessee Football Player of the Year for the 2024 season.

Gatorade wrote of Curtis in a press release:

“Gatorade Player of the Year is the top honor in high school sports, celebrating the nation’s best high school athletes for their success on the field, in the classroom and in the community. The award distinguishes Curtis as Tennessee’s best high school football player, and he joins an impressive group of alumni that spans CEOs, coaches and star athletes."

The award underscores Curtis’s place among elite alumni like Peyton Manning, Emmitt Smith and DJ Lagway.

Jared Curtis led Nashville Christian to a stellar 12-1 record and a state championship. He amassed 2,830 passing yards and 40 touchdowns while adding 637 rushing yards and 18 scores on the ground in his 2024 campaign.

According to On3, Georgia has a 35.9% chance of landing the playmaker, behind Ohio State, which has a 50.3% probability.
