The majority of blue-chip prospects from the 2025 class have already committed to the nation's top college programs. However, one of the most highly sought-after players, five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin, remains uncommitted, but not for much longer. The standout at Savannah Christian Preparatory School in Georgia has confirmed that he will announce his commitment on Friday, Oct. 18.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound DL announced the news on X, writing:

"I will be announcing my commitment on FRIDAY OCTOBER 18th at 1:20pm at Savannah Christian Preparatory School! Eckburg Gym!! #raidernation🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️ Anyone is welcome!! @SCPSAthletic."

Among the schools in contention, Georgia, Miami and USC have stood out as Griffin’s top choices. Georgia, his home state school, has long been viewed as the frontrunner, holding a 95.5% chance of securing his commitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Griffin’s relationship with the Georgia staff runs deep, as he had been first offered by the Bulldogs in his eighth-grade year. Since then, he has built strong ties with coach Kirby Smart, defensive line coach Tray Scott and linebackers coach Glenn Schumann.

Griffin was in attendance during Georgia's season-opening 34-3 win against Clemson at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Aug. 31. He enjoyed an official visit to the school for his birthday this weekend for the Mississippi State game, which the Bulldogs won 41-31.

“I have known coach Tray Scott, coach Kirby Smart and coach Glenn Shumann for five years now," Griffin told On3. 'The people in Athens made me comfortable and it is just a place I enjoy going.”

Miami has made a big push in recent months by hosting Griffin for multiple visits, while USC also emerged as a serious contender due to the efforts of defensive line coach Eric Henderson. The Trojans got him on campus in June, but the Bulldogs remain the team to beat.

Elijah Griffin shares the reasons behind his commitment time

Elijah Griffin's high school team, the Savannah Christian Raiders, is undefeated so far. The program is fresh off a 48-6 win over Vidalia on Friday and is going to enjoy a bye week this Friday.

“It is perfect for me to announce this week," Griffin told On3. "We have a bye week, so everyone can be there, we don’t have a game and it is a free week at school based around the ACT and SAT. This is the perfect time for me to announce my decision.

Elijah Griffin's decision will be made just before the Raiders take on Swainsboro on Oct. 25. He is rated by On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 6 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 1 among defensive linemen in the 2025 class and the No. 1 recruit in Georgia.
