Hamiley Arenas, daughter of the three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas was impressed by the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2027, Kaleena Smith as she was nominated as a recipient of the California Gatorade Player of The Year award on Tuesday.
Arenas shared the post by Ontario Christian Athletics' Instagram account announcing Smith's nomination to her story with a wholesome 1-word reaction.

On Friday, Smith also earned a spot in the MaxPreps' National Player of the Year watchlist along with seniors including No. 1 prospect in the 2025 class Aaliyah Chavez, Grandview senior and UCLA signee Sienna Betts, Clackamas senior and USC signee Jazzy Davidson, Mater Dei senior and Iowa commit Addison Deal and Montverde Academy's Saniyah Hall.
Nominees from the junior and sophomore classes included Long Island Lutheran junior Olivia Jones, Sierra Canyon junior Jerzy Robinson, Ridgeline senior and Duke commit Emilee Skinner and Bullis sophomore Ivanna Wilson-Manyacka.
Kaleena Smith has played 56 games for Ontario Christian High School, averaging 30.1 points, 7.2 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. This season, the 5-foot-6 guard has played 23 games, averaging 23.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 8.0 apg, 4.7 spg and 0.5 bpg.
Hamiley Arenas has also attracted recognition for her performances for Notre Dame High School. The 5-foot-10 combo guard has played 16 games for Sherman Oaks, averaging a double-double, 22.8 points, 3.3 assists, 12.7 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. Arenas set a career high with 31 points on 41% shooting in a 71-47 victory over Rolling Hills Prep.
Hamiley Arenas' Notre Dame suffered a loss against Sierra Canyon
Despite a valiant effort from Hamiley Arenas, the Sherman Oaks suffered a disappointing 97-48 defeat against the No. 3 recruit in the Class of 2026 Jerzy Robinson's Sierra Canyon.
Arenas finished the game with 20 points, six rebounds and two blocks, while Robinson recorded a double-double with 33 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
The Sherman Oaks' loss against Sierra Canyon bumped their record to 11-8 this season. Arenas and Sherman Oaks will lock horns against the Louisville Royals, who have a 7-9 record on Wednesday.
