Alijah Arenas and the Chatsworth Chancellors may have lost their game against Jason Crowe Jr. and the Inglewood Sentinels on Saturday, but he still put up a dominant display with 34 points during their 88–84 loss. His younger sister, Hamiley, had a one-word reaction to his performance.
On Friday, Hamiley Arenas posted an Instagram Story of Alijah's performance against the Sentinels and captioned it:
"Calmmm."
Meanwhile, Crowe performed much better against Alijah during that game, scoring 55 points. Hamiley's post also showed Crowe picking apart Chatsworth's defense.
Hamiley Arenas, the youngest daughter of Gilbert Arenas and Laura Govan, is a freshman at Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks). She averages 25 points per game, even though she is still in ninth grade.
All four Arenas siblings play basketball, including Izela Arenas, who plays in her freshman year for the Louisville Cardinals. Meanwhile, the youngest child, Aloni, is still in middle school but is already touted as a rising basketball star.
Their parents are already separated and have had a very contentious relationship. All four grew up with Govan, though Gilbert Arenas has had a hand in training them. Gilbert announced that Alijah Arenas would be reclassified from the Class of 2026 to the Class of 2025. He was previously ranked the No. 4 overall when he was still part of the Class of 2026.
Alijah Arenas had a slow start in defeat vs. Inglewood
The battle between Jason Crowe Jr. and Alijah Arenas was part of The Classic at Damien event in La Verne, California, hosted by Damien High School. It was the opening round of the event's Gold Division, and Inglewood led for most of the game.
The Sentinels were off to a hot start, leading 47–33 at halftime. However, Alijah was not his usual self. He began slow and was 0-11 from the field. He ended the half with only nine points but did come alive during the second half, with Chatsworth coming close in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough.
The game was Chatsworth's final game of the year, which means they ended 2024 with a very close loss. They would have to bounce back though, as the Chancellors will be opening 2025 with a game against Long Beach Poly on Jan. 4.
