Hamiley Arenas, the daughter of the three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, left two comments on an Instagram post by Sophie Pippen, the daughter of the six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen. On Thursday, Sophie turned 16 years old, and she made an Instagram post with two pictures of herself in a dress with the caption:
“Celebrating me 🎂”
Arenas expressed her admiration for Pippen with her comments. One of the comments read:
“HEYY GORGEOUSSS”
“IK THATS RIGHTTT,” the other said.
Arenas also shared several memories with Pippen through her Instagram stories. In one of the stories, they both appear in black outfits, taking mirror selfies and throwing peace signs. The following two stories also featured pictures and videos with Pippen. In the caption, she wrote:“happpy birthdayy sophhh love and miss youuu♥️ @stunnasophia.”
Despite the tensions between their fathers, Hamiley and Sophie appear to share a close friendship. Previously, on Hamiley’s 16th birthday, Sophie also posted an array of Instagram stories to send her love on her special day.
Gilbert and Scottie got into a tiff after the latter criticized “The Last Dance” documentary during his “The No Bull Tour.” Pippen and his teammates were unhappy about their portrayal in the documentary. Arenas had fired back and dismissed the complaints. He added that criticizing a winning legacy wasn’t a good look.
While Pippen did not respond further, it is likely the arguments strained their relationship. However, this doesn’t seem to be reflected in the relationship between their daughters.
Hamiley Arenas’ spectacular freshman debut and journey
On Nov. 20, Arenas made her freshman debut with 27 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists with Notre Dame. While her team lost the match to Campbell Hall, 75-70, she consolidated herself as an emerging prospect of the class of 2028.
On Dec. 2, in the game against Venice High School, she delivered a standout performance with 22 points and 17 rebounds, which contributed to an impressive 78-20 win for Notre Dame.
On Dec. 9, she dropped a spectacular performance on her birthday, scoring 40 points, 16 rebounds, and three steals against Santa Monica High School. She led the team to a 73-42 win.
Hamiley Arenas' consistent performances have not just made her stand out as one of the best players in the class of 2028, but fans also see her as a future star in the WNBA.
