NBA legend Gilbert Arena's ex-fiancee, Laura Govan, shared some snaps from her Parisian trip via her Instagram story on Monday. The famous TV star posted a three-word message comparing her journey raising Alijah Arenas and his siblings with an art piece. Govan added a picture of a portrait showcasing a mother managing four children.
"Single Mother Strength🇫🇷," she wrote.
Govan is on a Paris trip with her kids, her parents and Alijah's girlfriend, who goes by Jaydenn on Instagram. She kept giving Alijah's fans some glimpses of the vacation trip. In one of the pictures, the four siblings and Jaydenn could be seen going for breakfast. She also dropped some pictures from their visit to Effiel Tower on Saturday.
Laura Govan and Gilbert Arenas are parents to two daughters and two sons. Following their separation in 2014, Govan has custody of all four children. She recently opened up about her struggles as a single mother on Carlos King's YouTube show, "Reality with the King."
"I did everything but prostitution to keep them kids where they are today," she said. (47:47)
Laura was forced to admit her two kids to community school because it was difficult for her to manage her finances as a single mother.
Alijah Arenas hasn't let her mother's struggles go in vain. The 6-foot-5 guard is the No. 4 prospect in the Class of 2026. He is also the No. 2 shooting guard and has been tagged by his mother as "a mega basketball player." He has already received over 15 offers from top universities, including Arizona, Alabama and California.
Laura Govan's relationship with Gilbert Arenas and child support issues
When asked about her relationship with Gilbert Arenas, Laura Govan made it clear during her "Reality with the King" appearance that the pair were never married.
"Before, I used to let that slide because we were married by law because it was the 10E, blah blah blah blah, because we were together for so long, but our relationship today is the same as it was 12 years ago, 10 years ago really," Govan told King. (37:55-38:21)
Govan also accused Arenas Sr. of manipulating the children against her. She said Gilbert can't directly bother her, so he attacks the motherhood side.
The pair had multiple disputes over the child support amount. After they parted ways, Gilbert was paying $20,000 every month, which was reported to have increased to $44,999 as the kids grew and attended expensive schools. But it was lowered down to $7,000 per month following Gilbert's complaint.
