Five-star prospects Alijah Arenas and Jason Crowe Jr. delivered standout performances Thursday at The Classic at Damien." The two combined for 89 points, but it was Crowe and the Inglewood Sentinels who edged out Arenas and Chatsworth 88-84.
The closely contested matchup sparked reactions from the Arenas family, including Alijah's younger sister, Hamiley, and his mother, Laura Govan, who shared her thoughts on Instagram on Friday.
"My Babies @jasoncrowejr @alijah0arenas," Govan captioned the story.
Crowe, the son of former Los Angeles Clippers player Jason Crowe, led all scorers with a game-high 55 points. He is averaging 36.7 points per game this season and ranks as the No. 8 overall player in the Class of 2026, the No. 1 combo guard and the No. 5 player in California, according to On3.
Arenas contributed 34 points in the loss. The five-star guard recently reclassified from the Class of 2026 to the Class of 2025 to accelerate his recruitment process. Previously ranked No. 4 overall in his former class, his new ranking is yet to be determined.
His father, former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, was spotted courtside, watching his son compete.
Jason Crowe Jr. and Inglewood led most of the game vs. Chatsworth, but Alijah Arenas went hot
While Alijah Arenas struggled early, missing his first 11 shots from the field, Jason Crowe Jr. helped the Inglewood Sentinels build a commanding 16-point lead in the second quarter against the Chatsworth Chancellors. By halftime, Arenas had only nine points, while Crowe had already racked up 22, pushing Inglewood to a 47-33 advantage.
It was a much different story during the second half, though, as the Chancellors managed to inch closer to their opponents bit by bit, and Alijah started catching fire after a lackluster first half.
Chatsworth finally took the lead late in the fourth quarter after trailing the Sentinals 36-20 in the second quarter. However, Crowe carried his team down the stretch, reclaiming the lead and sealing a hard-fought victory.
