Laura Govan, ex-partner of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, never misses a chance to shower love and praise on her kids. On Tuesday, Govan was at it again when Ballislife shared a post celebrating her son, Alijah Arenas, and his incredible skills on the basketball court.
The Instagram post featured a compilation of Alijah slashing through defenders with ease, showcasing his speed and agility. The caption read:
"Alijah is one of the smoothest players at his height and age we’ve seen in a while🕺🏾😤."
Govan didn't hold back her excitement, as she expressed her joy with a heartfelt 3-word reaction:
"That's my baby."
Alijah, a 6-foot-6 wing who plays for Chatsworth (Calif.) High School is ranked as the No. 5 prospect in his class. His performance on the court has been nothing short of phenomenal this season. On Dec. 30, Alijah dropped a 43-point performance against Etiwanda, with his father watching courtside.
That game marked his 48th consecutive outing with at least 15 points — a streak that began last season. And if that wasn’t enough, three days earlier, Alijah put up 56 points, along with seven rebounds and five assists, against the Prescott Badgers, once again showcasing why he is one of the most talented high school basketball players.
Laura Govan praises her son, Alijah Arenas, for his dedication and hard work on the court
It takes tons of practice and dedication to become the sort of basketball player that Alijah Arenas is today. Laura Govan is definitely aware of this fact, as she appreciates the hard work that Alijah puts into his game. Back in September, Alijah trained with two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant during the workout session set up by Proactive Sports Performance in California.
Govan shared an Instagram story with a short clip of the duo training. She captioned the post:
"My baby is going to work!!!”
Arenas, the No. 2 nationally-ranked shooting guard, is reportedly in the process of reclassifying to the class of 2025, according to 247Sports. Currently in exceptional form, Arenas continues to impress on the court, and his mother, Govan, couldn’t be happier.
