Three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas' son, Alijah, was impressed by Notre Dame High School's (Sherman Oaks, California) Tyran Stokes in an 89-55 win over El Camino Real on Friday. Stokes scored 20 points and put on a show for the crowd.
Bleacher Report Hoops shared highlights of the Class of 2026 recruit showcasing his dunks, defensive plays and rebounding dominance. Arenas shared a two-word reaction on Instagram.
"@thetyranstokes tuff gang," Arenas captioned his story.
Stokes is the best small forward and the top-ranked player in the 2026 class.
Stokes is a two-time gold medal winner with Team USA. He represented the United States at the 2023 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship in Mexico and averaged 10.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
In the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup in Turkey, Stokes averaged 12.3 ppg on 57.9% shooting, including 28.6% from the 3-point line, 7.0 rpg and 5.6 apg. His break-out performance came against Italy in the final, where he recorded 17 points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block in 20 minutes.
Before Notre Dame, Stokes played for Napa Prolific Prep and averaged 12.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 5.6 apg. However, he transferred to Notre Dame in July and shared the reason for his transfer with Sports Illustrated on Wednesday.
"At Prolific (Prep), it was basketball, basketball, basketball, at here [Notre Dame] I get to enjoy, you know, time with myself," he said.
“Practice is over at 5:30, so I get to go home; I can chill with my dog and do different stuff. I get a little break and have time to do my homework, you know. At Prolific Prep I get home at 9:30, shower, eat, and sleep. So you know it's different, different experiences.”
