The Miami Hurricanes were the first to offer him in January 2024, and his uncle, Sam Shields, previously played for Miami. In an interview with CaneSport, Kennon referred to Miami as his “dream school.”

“That was my first one, and it was really exciting for me,” Kennon said. “I love Miami, and it’s my dream school.”

Kennon’s connection with Florida State includes an offer he received in May. The Seminoles’ defensive backs coach, Patrick Surtain Sr., has established a reputation for landing top talent, signing six blue-chip recruits in recent cycles.

Chauncey Kennon visited Tallahassee twice in 2024, attending a summer camp and the season opener against Boston College in September. During his junior year at Booker High School (Florida), Kennon showcased his talent on both offense and defense.

He recorded 33 tackles, 16 pass deflections, one forced fumble and an interception returned for a touchdown. On offense, he tallied 316 receiving yards and six touchdowns, including a standout performance of 101 yards and two scores in a 64-0 victory over Lely High School.

Florida State, which currently holds the No. 8 recruiting class in the country for 2026, is among the programs vying for Chauncey Kennon. The Seminoles’ "#Tribe26" class includes four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel, four-star wide receivers Efrem White and Darryon Williams and four-star safety Darryl Bell III.

Three-star safety Tedarius Hughes and three-star offensive lineman Xavier Payne have also committed.
