Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis chose the Colorado Buffaloes over the USC Trojans on Nov. 21. He pledged to the Trojans in August last year. Despite his commitment, the five-star recruit received a lot of interest from other programs. Colorado eventually won that war and signed him on National Signing Day.
Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes hosted the five-star quarterback in October, which proved fruitful. Lewis committed to the Boulder-based program in November. Sanders talked about the 6-0 athlete and revealed his plans for Lewis prior to the Alamo Bowl.
"Tremendous. Not only that, we gonna put his butt on the scout team," Sanders said when asked about Lewis practicing with Shedeur Sanders in an interview with Colorado sportscaster, Romi Bean.
"That young man is phenomenal. What he's done in high school football ... The kid is a winner. He's won all his life ... One of the things we love about him, he's a winner."
The Colorado Buffaloes signed 14 athletes from the Class of 2025 and Lewis is their best signee this year. The class is ranked No.26 in the country, as per 247Sports.
Deion Sanders sees a lot of similarities in Julian Lewis and Shedeur Sanders
The Carrollton High School graduate, Julian Lewis, will play college football in Boulder next year. The 6-0 signal-caller signed with the college football program on Dec. 4.
Deion Sanders spoke about his quarterback signing from the Class of 2025 and revealed that he sees similarities between Lewis and the Buffs' current quarterback, Shedeur Sanders.
"Shedeur’s worked really well for us," Sanders said, as per On3. "I saw a lot of similarities in the way Julian’s life has been structured, speaking to his father multitude of times, understanding how he came up, what he wants out of life, what he wants out of the game, and from the game, and what he gives to the game. The similarities are unbelievable."
Julian Lewis is ranked No. 39 in the country and is the sixth-best overall recruit in Georgia, as per On3. He is also the sixth-best quarterback in the Class of 2025.
He is expected to take over from Shedeur going forward and help Colorado compete at a high level in the future. Lewis was named the Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year for his tremendous performance this season.
