No. 1 ranked small forward AJ Dybantsa has been on a tear during the three-day Las Vegas leg of the Border League, considered the most important preseason tournament for high school basketball. The tournament happened last weekend, with Dybantsa and his Utah Prep taking on the AAU team, the Florida Rebels, on Saturday.
The Rebels are led by four-star duo Jamier Jones and Jalen Reece, and they fought hard against the deep Utah Prep squad, which won 64-58. Dybantsa ended with a double-double (20 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists).
Both sides showed a lot of prowess during the game, though it was AJ Dybantsa who impressed the most, with basketball fans lauding his performance in the comments section.
"AJ be out there just floating," one commenter wrote.
"He on another level," another fan commented.
"dunking ur own miss is outrageous," another fan noted.
Meanwhile, some fans also pointed out that Dybantsa also needs to work on his defense.
"A.J defense needs work especially since consider #1. Offensive is top tier!! Just be a full package.," one fan said.
"AJ went off but they also went off on him. He was getting scored on in damn near every highlight," another added.
"Aj was cooking but he was lowk getting fried on defense," another fan commented.
Jamier Jones is a four-star power forward ranked 55th overall who has already committed to Providence. Meanwhile, Jalen Reece is a four-star point guard ranked 86th overall by 247Sports. He's already committed to LSU.
AJ Dybantsa impresses vs. No. 2 prospect Cameron Boozer
The following day of Border League Las Vegas, known as Border League Sunday, a lot of eyes were tuned in to just one game, and that was Utah Prep vs. Explorers, as No. 1 AJ Dybantsa took on No. 2 Cameron Boozer.
It was a close contest that came down to the wire, with Utah Prep winning by just one point, 69-68. Dybantsa had an excellent game with 28 points and four rebounds. Meanwhile, his top rival, Cameron Boozer, had 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
