Five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord was Ryan Day and Ohio State's prized possession from the Class of 2025, until he wasn't. The Birmingham, Alabama native shocked the country by ditching the Buckeyes for the Oregon Ducks on National Signing Day.
Offord pledged his allegiance to the Buckeyes on Feb. 4, 2024, and it looked like the cornerback would play his college football in Columbus. However, he decided to flip his commitment to the Ducks on Dec. 4.
He will now play with the likes of Dakorien Moore and Dallas Wilson, who decided to join the Eugene-based program this year.
Offord's decision created a great buzz on social media as he received a lot of flak for his last-minute flip. It was especially so when he revealed that Nike's founder, Phil Knight (worth $43 billion, as per celebritynetworth.com), was involved in his recruitment. He shared a video on his Instagram account and fans took the opportunity to troll the five-star prospect.
"Got blurred in his state chip he flipped for a shoe stay on that side for a shoe that Phil isn’t making for him," one fan said.
"hope the shoe worth it," another fan wrote.
"Give the kid his own shoe who wouldn’t flip," another fan commented.

However, some Oregon fans were ecstatic with Na'eem Offord's move and are looking forward to watching him play for the Ducks.
"This hard," one fan wrote.
"Wish nothing but success," another fan said.
"Go Bucks!" another fan commented.

He chose the Ducks over programs such as Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Miami, Georgia and Tennessee. The five-star prospect is ranked No. 12 nationally and is the third-best cornerback in the Class of 2025, as per On3. He is also the best overall recruit from the state of Alabama.
Na'eem Offord's father spoke about his son's visits to Oregon
The five-star recruit Na'eem Offord announced his flip to the Oregon Ducks on National Signing Day, giving Ohio State fans a minor heart attack. He chose the program after taking multiple visits to Eugene.
Na'eem Offord's father, Kaiorie Offord, shed light on his son's visits to Eugene in October, after the Ducks' game against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
"The atmosphere was crazy. We always enjoy going out to Oregon," Kaiorie told Scoop Duck in Oct. "The times we’ve been out there, everybody likes Oregon on our end ... Dan Lanning, we love him as a head coach. I do— great guy. I see what Coach Lanning is building out there, so we’re kind of watching everything under a microscope."
The Ducks have had a successful recruiting cycle this year, landing 21 athletes from the Class of 2025. The program's class is ranked No. 3 in the country, only behind Texas and Alabama, as per 247Sports.
