Darryn Peterson committed to Kansas on Friday, Nov. 1. He chose the Jayhawks over Washington, Kentucky, Louisville and Arizona State. The youngster told ESPN that it was a hard decision for him but Bill Self's coaching and Kansas' culture helped him make the final choice.

What does Darryn Peterson bring to the table for Kansas Jayhawks?

Derek Johnson talked about Darryn Peterson's potential impact on the Jayhawks on Wednesday's episode of the "Locked on Jayhawks" podcast.

"Peterson, he's more of he could be wing or you could play the one, two or three," Johnson said.

Johnson added that it's tough for Peterson to be a lottery pick due to the presence of AJ Dybantsa and Cameron Boozer. However, he highlighted Darryn's role on the court.

"He feels like a player to be built to come in right away and have success score double-digit points and be an impact player on a winning team in a real way because of how advanced he is at spot-up shooting, working in the high post in the mid-range dribbling into, shooting and elevating over guys," Derek said.

With Peterson’s commitment secured, Kansas is now setting its sights on other top 2025 prospects, including Bryson Tiller, Samis Calderon and Mouhamed Sylla.
