"He knows he doesn’t have Tom Brady right?": Fans react to UNC coach Bill Belichick trying to recruit IMG Academy head coach for his staff

The University of North Carolina made a massive splash by hiring Bill Belichick as its head coach. Belichick last coached a football game in January 2024 and has been out of work since then.

Belichick was hired by UNC on Dec. 11 and is now building his staff in North Carolina. According to On3, the former NFL coach is targeting IMG Academy HC Billy Miller to join his staff.

"Bill Belichick and North Carolina are targeting IMG Academy head coach Billy Miller for a spot on the staff," read the caption on On3 High School's Instagram post.

Fans were quick to give their thoughts on Belichick's pursuit of Miller.

"bro trying to tap into the img pipeline he isn’t slick," one fan said.

"Get that IMG pipeline smart," another fan commented.

"The man plays good chess," another fan wrote.

However, a few fans took the opportunity to troll him and claimed that he is taking away Deion Sanders' pipeline. Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes have acquired a couple of prospects from the academy in the Class of 2025.

"Damn Bill trying to take Deion’s pipeline away!" one fan wrote.

Miller joined IMG's staff in 2014 as its special teams coordinator. He led the Ascenders to a national championship last year and reportedly already has a working relationship with Belichick.

IMG Academy is widely regarded as the best talent-producing high school in the country

IMG Academy is one of the best high school programs in the country. The Florida-based program has produced some amazing talent. According to CBS Sports, 10 athletes who were in the Top247 rankings over the last two seasons went on to play for some of the best D-1 schools in the country.

The academy has been a great recruiting spot for top programs over the years. Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes also dipped their toes in the IMG Academy pool this year and snatched up a couple of defensemen from the Class of 2025.

Four-star edge rusher London Merritt and three-star defensive lineman Alexander McPherson are the two IMG Academy players who signed with the Buffaloes on National Signing Day.

Not only the athletes but also the coaching staff at IMG are on the radar of college programs, with Billy Miller as a prime example.

IMG had a good season, going 7-2 and having a perfect record at home. However, they failed to replicate their 2023 campaign when they won the national championship under Miller.
