Darryn Peterson, the No. 3 recruit in the Class of 2025 who signed with the Kansas Jayhawks last month, has naturally drawn comparisons with the No. 1 recruit, AJ Dybantsa, and Duke signee Cameron Boozer, ranked No. 2.
Bleacher Report Hoops posted some of Peterson's stats and highlights, inviting comments from hoops fans.
Some fans compared Darryn Peterson with Dybantsa and Boozer and claimed that he is ready for the NBA.
"He look league ready now," a fan commented.
A fan claimed that Peterson is better than Boozer: "He’s a dawg. Better than Boozer. And aside from AJ he’s the best pure scorer in the class. Hell best scoring guard of the last 2 classes tbh."
"Avg 28 on the adidas circuit is insane 👹👹👹," another fan wrote.
More fans drew comparisons with Dybantsa and Boozer and commended Peterson's skills.
"different kinds of players. Altho I see the comparison, ion think one is better than the other, that's why they're two of the top 3 recruits in their class. Would be amazing to see them both at Kansas tho 👀 i wont deny not having a tough time choosing bw the 2," a fan commented.
A fan commended Peterson's playing style: "Great pace to his game. Doesn’t get sped up. And had the midrange to be able to stop and pop and not force the drive."
"averaging 4 steals and 3 blocks is crazy," another fan posted.
Why did Darryn Peterson sign with Kansas?
Darryn Peterson had plenty of offers from top programs, including Ohio State, Kansas State and USC, before he signed with Bill Self's Jayhawks.
The No. 1 shooting guard talked about his decision with ESPN:
"This was a very hard decision. Ultimately, it was the coaching of Bill Self and the culture of their program. My heart and gut were with Kansas. "I will have the opportunity to play right away as a freshman, prepare for the draft and be dialed into winning. I won't look back or ahead. I will be dialed in when I am there."
The 2023-23 Ohio Mr. Basketball after averaging 31.0 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game for Prolific Prep will join four-star recruit Bryson Tiller and three-star recruit Samis Calderon for Bill Self next season.
