Darius Acuff, a five-star point guard from IMG Academy in Bradenton, wowed audiences at the City of Palms Classic. Leading the IMG Academy Ascenders, Acuff scored 27 points and eight assists in a semifinal clash against Columbus.
Throughout the tournament held at SouthWestern State College in Fort Myers, Acuff averaged 32.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and just 1.0 turnover per game. His outstanding play earned him co-MVP honors alongside Cameron Boozer.
Slam High School shared a series of clips that captured Acuff's exceptional gameplay during the City of Palms Classic, on Instagram this Thursday. Fans couldn't hold their excitement and flooded the comment section with praise.
One fan, emphasizing Acuff's elite status among the city's basketball talents, declared:
"He is the coldest out of Detroit in the last 20 years."
Another fan in disbelief over why he is still not number one in the national ranking:
"How is he not in consideration for #1 player?”
Fans from Detroit were particularly elated over Darius Acuff’s performance. They wrote:
"Detroit bred 🫡🥶,”
"He is a humble killa, frfr.”
Others shared personal anecdotes:
"Had no clue who he was, and I got to see him play at the LaPorte NIBC invitational. Dude's vision is ridiculous, and he's a solid perimeter defender. Bright future ahead of him!"
Lastly, one fan drew parallels with other young stars:
“Such a coincidence that Darius Acuff and Cameron Boozer were also both MVPs of their U18 and U17 FIBA tournaments, respectively."
Darius Acuff and Boozer Twins to continue on-court rivalry at college levels too
Darius Acuff, the No. 5 nationally ranked recruit in the 2025 class, is one of the best high school basketball players out there.
While the Boozer Twins’s Columbus High School ultimately won the title, Acuff stood out with his performance, particularly against the Faith Family Academy, where he dropped 38 points, helping his team secure an 81-78 victory.
High school is almost over for Acuff, but his in-game rivalry with the Boozer twins will continue at the collegiate level. While the Boozer Twins committed to their father's alma mater, Duke University, Acuff chose the Arkansas Razorbacks as his college destination.
