An Instagram post that was shared on Friday on MaxPrep's official page @maxpreps has been generating a bit of debate among fans. The post, which was a series of images and videos highlighting LeBron James' son Bryce James' skills and performance on the court, has prompted a number of fans to give their opinion on the Sierra Canyon star's ability and performance.
Several comments believed that the Arizona commit is not up to par ability and performance-wise, and they didn't hesitate to make it known:
"He's not even averaging 4 points a game," one fan wrote.
"6 ppg as a senior and getting a high-major D1 offer is wild," another fan said.
Other comments were, however, of a different opinion, with some even praising the 17-year-old:
"Heir to the Throne," one fan said.
"He looks very smooth. Plays effortlessly," said another.
"He runs like his dad it looks like. Plays better defense already lol," another fan said.
Some comments were drawing comparisons between Bryce and his older brother Bronny:
"Tbh he has better potential than bronny, we just gotta see who ends up better," one fan said
"Bryce game looking more like Bron than bronny," another said
After being out with injury for the first nine games of the season, Bryce is gradually finding his footing with Sierra Canyon. Since his return, he came off the bench in the Trailblazers' last seven games, including their most recent 64-42 win against Houston, where he sank a 3-pointer.
The 17-year-old forward is currently averaging 6.3 points and 2.8 rebounds this season. With more games this season, there's hope he'll continue to elevate his stats and make an even bigger impact on the court.
Popular basketball analyst commented on Bryce James' Arizona commitment
Since Bryce James' commitment to the Arizona Wildcats, quite a number of critics have come out to question the decision, suggesting that the recruitment may be more about his family name than his on-court abilities. Popular basketball analyst Jeff Goodman was quite vocal in his criticism, describing Bryce as a player with no particularly distinctive or noticeable qualities:
"He's just kinda nondescript. But I think one of the key reasons here that he ended up at Arizona and Arizona takes him is because Rich Paul, who represents him. Obviously Rich Paul's LeBron's buddy for clutch," Goodman said.
Whether or not he's good enough for Arizona is a question Bryce James will have to answer on the court when he finally dons the Wildcats jersey. Hopefully, he'll be able to prove the critics wrong.
