Offord, ranked as the No. 2 cornerback and No. 11 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports' composite rankings, initially committed to Ohio State in February.
However, during a signing ceremony at A.H. Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama, he reversed his decision and chose Oregon on National Signing Day.
Oregon’s relentless pursuit paid off, fending off Auburn, which had emerged as a strong contender late in the process. Offord, who frequently visited Auburn, even donned a Tigers hat before ultimately revealing his commitment to the Ducks.
His decision also followed a pivotal Oregon visit earlier in the season and a return to Ohio State during Week 14. Offord’s addition vaults Oregon to fourth in 247Sports' composite team rankings, with three other five-star recruits joining him: wide receivers Dakorien Moore and Dallas Wilson, and safety Trey McNutt.
Na’eem Offord once reflected on choosing Oregon: "They recruited me the hardest"
Five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord became Oregon’s second-ranked recruit in the 2025 class after signing on National Signing Day. Offord, ranked No. 11 overall and the No. 2 cornerback in 247Sports’ composite rankings, trails only wide receiver Dakorien Moore (No. 3 in the ESPN 300) among Oregon signees.
He also follows Cal quarterback flip Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele (No. 18 pocket passer) as the Ducks’ second Signing Day addition. Offord stunned fans by committing to Oregon over Ohio State and Auburn, citing the Ducks’ persistent recruitment.
“At the end, they just recruited me the hardest,” Offord stated at the Under Armour All-America Game week. “(Head coach Lanning), he got a real good staff around him, a real good culture, a very good school, as you can see.
"Dan Lanning, he’s only been there for a couple of years. Like I told everybody, you can see a big impact. He coming in, he’s trying to make a huge impact. He’s trying to win him a national championship.”
Choosing Oregon wasn’t easy for the Birmingham, Alabama native.
“It was an extremely tough decision for me because, you know, I loved all three of them schools. I visited all the schools multiple times. Yeah, you know, I mean, me being an in-state guy (for Auburn), it was kind of hard.”
Oregon's defensive class now boasts of five ESPN 300 defenders, including McNutt (No. 40), cornerback Dorian Brew (No. 53), linebackers Nasir Wyatt (No. 88) and Gavin Nix (No. 209). They also have four-star athlete Brandon Finney (No. 34) expected to play cornerback.
