Nate Ament has gotten ahead of many in the Class of 2025 after signing a multi-year NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deal with Reebok worth $1.3 million. He appeared on Tuesday's episode of the "Youngins Podcast" with Swish Cultures founder and CEO Jordan Richard and talked about his Reebok deal and the best aspects of his game.
Richard discussed Ament's catch-and-shoot skills complementing his size. He then asked the five-star power forward about the best parts of his game.
"I really love the bag work like you said, but I really think I think the catch and shoot is probably one of the best parts in my game," Ament said (6:23). "I mean that's something I work on every day. I mean, I work on all parts but really that's something that you can just rep out so easily."
Ament, the No. 4 overall prospect for the Class of 2025, noted that the catch-and-shoot is needed on every level of the game. He added that he likes working on his midrange most of the time.
Nate Ament talks about taking bumps from defenders
Jordan Richard also asked about the more physical aspects of Nate Ament's game, particularly taking bumps from defenders as Ament likes to use a drop dribble.
"I'm strong, but I'm not, you know, I have much stronger people guarding me so it's easy to get bumped off your line when you're driving," Ament said (7:17).
He further said,
"A big thing that we rep out when we're training is hit them before before they hit you, so mean it's easy for me to get a bump in before they can bump me off my line, so that you know they're off balance and I can shoot over top."
Nate Ament went on to discuss his between-the-legs cross and said that it was his favorite move. Ament's NIL deal has made him the first high school men’s basketball player in history to sign with Reebok. A Player Exclusive sneaker will be launched at retail price, which will be in different colorways of the Reebok "Engine A" shoes. It was first released in August for WNBA rookie Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky.
