Auburn University football fans are celebrating a significant win as four-star defensive back Anquon Fegans has committed to the Tigers. The No. 2 safety in the 2025 class, Fegans, is the latest in a series of high-profile recruits to join Auburn, following four-star cornerback Blake Woodby and Alabama flips Derick Smith and Antonio Coleman.

This surge in commitments has ignited excitement among Auburn supporters, with many expressing their enthusiasm on social media. One fan exclaimed:

“Holy sh*t, Hugh!”

Another remarked:

“Holy moly, Freeze is on fire.”

Here is how other fans are reacting:

"Ah another safety 'over Georgia' while we have 3," a fan said.
"Smart decision young man over ga," another fan remarked.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 190 pounds, Fegans hails from Alabaster, Alabama, and is ranked as the No. 36 prospect in the 2025 ESPN rankings. He chose Auburn over other top programs like LSU, Georgia, Alabama and Clemson.

Fegans credited the strong relationships he built with coach Freeze and co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly as key factors in his decision.

“Those guys are very real and you're able to relate to them a lot,” Fegans told ESPN. “It's just the place and the people -- there's going to be no better time there than right now.”

Anquon Fegans’ recruitment journey has been notable. Initially committed to USC in May 2023, he reopened his recruitment in August after a standout sophomore season at Thompson High School, where he recorded 67 tackles and nine interceptions.

His junior year saw continued success with 59 tackles and seven interceptions, leading to visits to Auburn, Clemson, Miami, Georgia, LSU and Washington. After a final round of visits, including trips to LSU, Alabama and Auburn, Anquon Fegans felt a strong connection to Auburn, and said:

“It’s special there. And we're going to bring a lot of guys there with me.”

Auburn beats LSU in landing 4-star Safety Anquon Fegans

Anquon Fegans made a pivotal decision after visiting Alabama on Sunday, ultimately choosing between Auburn and LSU. Despite Clemson and Georgia being in the mix, Auburn emerged victorious over the Baton Rouge Tigers.

"Why not stay home and do it for your home state," Fegans told On3. "It was a difficult decision. There is something about Baton Rouge, but I decided to stay home. I can stay home, put it on for the home state and help build the program up."

Anquon Fegans’ decision was influenced by his brother, Tre’quon Fegans, who transferred to Auburn from USC. However, the primary factors were the people, place and culture at Auburn.

"It will be cool to learn from him and team up with him at Auburn, but that wasn’t what made my decision," Fegans said. "It came down to the people, the place and the culture at Auburn. Every time I am there, it always has the feeling of being at home. It is a different culture there. That made a big difference."

Adding to the excitement, Auburn also bolstered its 2026 class with commitments from four-star defensive end Hezekiah Harris, outside linebacker JaMichael Garrett and inside linebacker Shadarius Toodle, making it a banner recruiting weekend for the Tigers.
