Quentin Gibson, a standout 4-star wide receiver from North Crowley High School, is set to join Coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. Gibson’s explosive senior season, featuring 86 receptions, 1,828 yards and 33 touchdowns, has firmly placed him among the nation’s top high school athletes.
On Saturday, Gibson will lead his team into the Texas 6A Division 1 state championship at AT&T Stadium, where they face perennial powerhouse Westlake from Austin.
Gibson spoke with CBS Sports Texas’ Jaylon Shoots ahead of the title game to discuss his journey and aspirations. When asked about Coach Prime likening him to Colorado stars like Jontay Weston, he said:
"My play style was like when I was down there in Colorado, he said I was like a Jimmy who was a Jontay Weston. So I was like hoping to feel like I could make this. Hopefully I could fill the footsteps of them. I'm from Memphis though. I'm originally from Memphis."
Originally from Memphis, Gibson noted that adjusting to Colorado’s cold climate doesn’t faze him.
"Yeah." he said. "I didn't really worry about the cold, for real, for real. Because a dog is a dog. At the end of the day, a dog is a dog. All right, let's talk about this state game. I'm going to go against Austin Westlake, man."
Gibson's achievements aren’t confined to his senior year. As a junior, he tallied 542 scrimmage yards and scored seven touchdowns, setting the stage for his breakout final season. He’s now focused on cementing his legacy with a state championship win.
"It's gonna be some great memories, especially knowing we gonna win our last game going out here at 16, first time in North Crowley history, win the 6A state championship. It's gonna be a lot of first times, but it's gonna be great," he said.
Colorado commit Quentin Gibson shines in historic season with North Crowley
Quentin Gibson, a three-star wide receiver from Fort Worth's North Crowley High School, committed to the Colorado Buffaloes in November. Reflecting on his visit to Colorado, Gibson shared with Maroon and White:
“My first official visit was to Colorado a couple of weeks ago. It was a fun visit and it was exciting to see their atmosphere. The coaches were telling me how I would fit in the scheme and be able to replace some of their top guys.”
Ranked as the No. 1,164 overall recruit in the 2025 class by the On3 Industry Ranking, Gibson also ranks as the No. 181 wide receiver and No. 173 player from Texas. His commitment to Colorado came as the Buffaloes' recruiting efforts soared, especially after the addition of highly ranked quarterback Julian Lewis from Carrollton, Ga.
Gibson is a key part of North Crowley’s historic football season. With a perfect 15-0 record, the Panthers are the first Fort Worth team to reach the state championship in the state's largest class since 1948.
Gibson's impressive high school career includes 86 catches for 1,828 yards and 33 touchdowns, averaging 21.2 yards per reception. He joins eight other North Crowley players committed to college programs, further solidifying the team’s legacy.
