Bryce James, LeBron James’ youngest son, got the hooping community buzzing with his commitment to the University of Arizona on Jan. 1.

The 6-foot-6, three-star shooting guard, ranked 257th nationally, stirred up further conversation when Bleacher Report Hoops posted images of him wearing an Arizona Wildcats uniform on Saturday.

The post was captioned:

“First look at Bryce James in an Arizona Wildcats uniform🔥 Y’all feeling this look on Bryce? 🤔”

It drew a storm of reactions from fans, with many questioning his Division I prospects.

“Call me a hater. I don’t care, but how this kid is going D1 is shocking,” one wrote.

Another added:

“How he gets a scholarship… he’s just tall.”

Bryce, who plays for Sierra Canyon, has faced scrutiny for his performances, and fans didn't hold back, pointing to his limited impact at high school level with comments like:

“So you’re telling me this random kid didn’t even start at his high school and got a scholarship at Arizona? Oh… he is Bron’s son? Never mind."
“Congratulations to Arizona for getting a three-star player who is ranked 257th in the country 😂.”

One fan revived the familiar nepotism accusations often directed at LeBron’s children:

“Another nepotism baby we’re going to be stuck hearing about.”

However, there were those who acknowledged Arizona’s ability to develop talent.

“This is how you know they’re trying to develop him into a scoring big man. Good program to turn into a scorer,” one fan commented.

LeBron James himself shared the same pictures on Instagram on Saturday with the caption:

“🧵!!!! AYYYYYYYYYY. SO 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥@_justbryce. LET'S #JamesGangW👑”

However, it's certain Bryce James's getting a seat on the Arizona Wildcats rosters hasn't gone well with fans.

What's ahead for Bryce James at Arizona?

Bryce James’ journey to Arizona has been under intense scrutiny, especially after posting modest stats at Peach Jam, averaging 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds.

For Jeff Goodman, a renowned basketball analyst, Bryce James' selection to the Arizona basketball program is shocking. He attributed it to Rich Paul, the influential basketball agent and long-term friend of "King James."

“I am shocked,” he exclaimed during the Field of 68 After Dark podcast on YouTube this Thursday.
"But I think one of the key reasons here that he ended up at Arizona and Arizona takes him is because Rich Paul, who represents him. Obviously, Rich Paul is LeBron's buddy for Klutch.”

Nevertheless, Arizona basketball coach Tommy Lloyd, is renowned for his ability to develop players. According to WildcatAuthority.com, that's the reason Bryce picked the Wildcats over Duquesne and Ohio State.

LeBron James has emphasized it as well. Applauding his son's decision, the NBA legend said:

“It was his decision to make, and he went where he felt comfortable,” LeBron said.
“Coach (Tommy) Lloyd is a straight shooter. Gave him exactly what they believed (about) him, what they thought about him as a person, as a player. We're happy to be part of the Bear Down community now.”

Whether Bryce James can silence his critics and prove himself at the collegiate level remains to be seen, but for now, the spotlight and debates about his ability continues.
