Lewis, a highly sought-after five-star prospect, boasts an extraordinary high school career that has drawn comparisons to elite college players. Over three seasons, he accumulated a staggering 10,677 passing yards and 142 touchdowns.

His freshman year was particularly memorable, as he threw for 4,118 yards, 48 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, leading Carrollton to a 14-1 record and a 7A state championship game appearance.

His sophomore campaign was equally impressive, with Lewis tallying 3,094 passing yards, 48 touchdowns and just two interceptions, propelling his team to the quarterfinals.

On this week’s episode of Coach Prime’s Playbook, Deion Sanders shared his excitement about Lewis joining Colorado's scout team ahead of the Alamo Bowl.

"Tremendous. Not only that, we are going to put his butt on that scout team and let him run against the 1s (starters)," Sanders told Bean. "We're going to see if you flinch. We're gonna see what you got. That young man (Lewis) is phenomenal, what he's done in high school football."

Kaidon Salter and Julian Lewis: Buffs boost QB depth ahead of Alamo Bowl

Colorado has bolstered its quarterback room with the addition of Kaidon Salter, a standout transfer from Liberty University. Salter, who shone in Jamey Chadwell’s spread-option offense, brings a wealth of experience after starting 29 games for the Flames.

Over two seasons, Salter showcased his dual-threat abilities, amassing 6,438 total yards and 66 touchdowns. He had 1,676 rushing yards since 2023, ranking second among FBS quarterbacks behind only Army’s Bryson Daily.

Buffs insider Jake Schwanitz highlighted Salter’s significance:

"Julian is very talented, but make no mistake about it. The Buffs had to just upgrade the overall talent in their quarterback room going into this next season."

As the Buffs prepare for life after Shedeur Sanders, who is projected to move on to the NFL, all eyes are on Lewis to see if he can live up to the lofty expectations. However, the road to the starting role in 2025 won’t be easy.

With the addition of Kaidon Salter, it will be interesting to see Lewis carving his path for QB1. Salter’s performance, including 1,886 passing yards and 15 touchdowns this season, makes the competition fierce.
