Hugh Freeze's Auburn makes early recruiting move on elite 2027 quarterback prospect

Quarterback Cason Myers is one of the top 2027 class prospects in Alabama, and Auburn's coaching staff has its eyes set on the prospect. The standout prospect from Pike Road High School received an offer from Hugh Freeze's program on Saturday.

Myers shared the news on X, tagging Freeze and Tigers assistant quarterback coach Jesse Stone.

"After a great conversation with Coach Austin, I am blessed to receive an offer from Auburn University @CoachHughFreeze @CoachJesseStone," he wrote.

According to recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, Myers is “a terrific athlete who can make all the throws.” Lemming also praised his ability to stay accurate while throwing on the run and his knack for escaping pressure. Besides football, Myers has excelled on the basketball court.

In an interview with Auburn Undercover, Myers discussed his progress as a quarterback, saying:

"Just my reading skills (defense) and being able to push the ball down the field better, just putting the ball where it needs to be."

As a sophomore this season, he threw for 1,179 yards and nine touchdowns in just six games while adding 91 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. These numbers came following an outstanding freshman year where he amassed 2,389 passing yards and 17 touchdowns in 14 games.

With three years remaining in his high school career, Myers is expected to be one of the most coveted recruits in the nation. Ahead of Auburn, he has also received offers from UCF, Alabama State, Houston, Troy, North Carolina, West Virginia and UAB, among others.

Alabama native Cason Myers has Auburn high on his list as the Tigers ramp up recruiting for the 2027 class. Myers camped at Auburn last summer and left impressed with the program.

"I loved it," Myers told Auburn Undercover. "I went up there in the spring and it felt like a family. I felt the love. The camp went good and the facilities are great. They are telling me to keep getting better and come back and build the relationships."

Auburn has yet to secure a commitment in the class, but the Tigers coaching staff continues to cast a wide net by extending offers to top talent, including 2027 quarterback Gunner Rivers. He is the son of former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers, whom Auburn pursued 25 years ago before he signed with NC State.
