Keisean Henderson, a four-star quarterback commit from Houston, received an offer from Auburn coach Hugh Freeze after his stellar MVP performance in the Navy All-American Bowl.
Henderson’s efforts led the West to a 13-7 victory in a game dominated by defense this past Saturday. His highlight moment came late in the first half when he connected with SMU signee Jalen Cooper on a 91-yard touchdown pass, which ultimately became the decisive play.
Reflecting on his accomplishment, Henderson said:
"It's a blessing just to be named as a MVP of a game that I came in one of the last quarterbacks and one of the youngest guys out here. So just being a junior and just coming out here playing with seniors and guys that's going to leave in a couple of days to go pack up their rooms and stuff like that.
"I think just being one of the youngest guys just put me on the chip, having the chip on my shoulder."
The East managed a touchdown from Texas standout Jaime Ffrench with just over 10 minutes left, but their late-game efforts fell short. The game also saw several notable college commitments.
USC secured four-star running back Shahn Alston, while Auburn gained a pledge from four-star receiver Devin Carter. Other commitments included McKay Maden (BYU), Cam Sparks (Virginia Tech) and Justin Hasenhuetl (Cal).
Henderson plans to visit Houston officially this offseason but remains open to other programs. Schools like Oregon, Miami, Ole Miss, Florida State, Georgia, SMU and Baylor are vying for his attention.
"Those are the teams that are consistently calling me," he asserted. "It depends on the coach -- anywhere I see someone who is a step ahead, those are places I'd be open to taking official visits to."
All-American bowl MVP Keisean Henderson stays committed to Houston Cougars
Keisean Henderson, a standout from Houston, is one of the nation’s top playmakers. Ranked No. 24 overall in the Rivals250 for 2026 and the No. 1 junior recruit in Texas, Henderson committed early to the Houston Cougars after Willie Fritz and his staff took over.
After an impressive junior season at Spring Legacy School of Sports Sciences, Henderson remains fully committed.
"Everything has been smooth with Houston. I'm locked in. That's family," Henderson told Rivals. "You can see how much people can grow in a short amount of time. When he got there, you could see the impact. It shook Houston ... It was a down year for them, but for me, it was a foundational year."
Henderson stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 185 pounds, with versatility as a quarterback, safety and wide receiver. His admiration for Fritz is clear:
"To be coached by a legend ... You've got a guy who is winning at programs every year. He's done it for multiple programs, he's done it for different programs. He brings a winning mentality. You're gonna be great every day because of him, and learning from that is the best part."
Across 31 varsity games, he completed 147 passes for 2,323 yards and 25 touchdowns, averaging 74.9 passing yards per game with a 55.5% completion rate. As a receiver, he recorded 74 catches for 1,135 yards, averaging 15.3 yards per catch and 36.6 yards per game.
