While many often talk about Kiyan Anthony's father, NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, few talk about his mom, actress La La Anthony. On Friday, Kiyan appeared on WNBA All-Star Angel Reese's "Unapologetically Angel" podcast and recalled the time he tried acting with his mother.

Alani Nicole "La La" Anthony is an accomplished actress who has appeared in the films "You Got Served" and "9 Bullets." She also hosted the TV shows "MC Battle" and "Flavor of Love." While Kiyan eventually pursued his dad's path—basketball —he told Reese that he used to go with his mom on set.

"It's a long day, she been out 14 hours, I be like, I got to go home," he told Reese. "It was one time like she was there 20 hours, I was really, I'm sorry, you had to go, can't stay with you. It was like, last year, for real, she just be in the trailer, she probably got two scenes the whole day but it take 20 hours." (16:27-16:46)

This revelation about an actor's long hours prompted the Chicago Sky power forward to ask Anthony if he planned to pursue acting.

"No, I couldn't," Anthony replied. "I tried like, I auditioned, for um, I don't even know. Some movie audition." (16:45-16:52)

Anthony also admitted he could not act.

"I can't act," Kiyan Anthony told the host. "That's not mine." (17:08-17:10)

However, the four-star shooting guard from Long Island Lutheran added that he took acting lessons but could not do it.

Kiyan Anthony's mom, La La Anthony, started from the bottom to become a successful actress

La La Anthony is a proud mom who has supported her son Kiyan Anthony's basketball path. Her entertainment career started as an intern at an Atlanta radio station before she became a radio personality.

She then moved to LA and became an MTV VJ, hosting "Total Request Live." This led her to move to New York to continue her career with MTV as a host and this led her to transition to acting. She has since also started producing and writing books.

Unlike her son, however, La La has been very vocal about her love of acting. She said in an interview with USA Today that it is her passion and that she has always loved the camaraderie of being on a show with people.
