Former reality show star Laura Govan raised her four kids, Aloni, Hamiley, Izela, and Alijah Arenas, after her split with ex-former NBA star Gilbert Arenas. She appeared in Carlos King's YouTube show, Reality with the King, where she opened up about her struggles, including raising her kids and dealing with her ex.
She said she had to place two of her children in community school as she struggled to make ends meet due to financial troubles.
"I did everything but pr**titution to keep them kids where they are today," said Govan. (47:47-47:50)
Earlier in the podcast, host Carlos King asked her about the status of her relationship with Gilbert Arenas.
"So let's clear this up, we were never married, OK?" Laura Govan said. "Before, I used to let that slide because we were married by law because it was the 10E, blah blah blah blah, because we were together for so long, but our relationship today is the same as it was 12 years ago 10 years ago really." (37:55-38:21)
She claimed that Gilbert often used the kids to manipulate her.
"Now he uses the children," she told King. "Because now, now he knows how to manipulate it because he can't directly bother me right, so he knows how much I love my children, but here's the thing he also knows is that I love my children more than I hate him, so he attacks the motherhood side of it. (38:53-39:19)
She also said that she gets along with his new fiancee but has to put up with him for the kids.
"It's so bad that I had to tell his new fiance, who I like, to tell him to stop talking about me on his podcast," she added. (39:28-39:42)
Laura Govan and Gilbert Arenas' child support disputes
Laura Govan and Gilbert Arenas allegedly had several disputes over child support.
Initially, Arenas paid $20,000 per month in child support after their 2014 split, but it reportedly increased to $44,999 per month as their kids got older and went to more expensive schools. However, Arenas filed a complaint and had a judge lower it to $7,000 per month.
