2027 cornerback Larry Moon III secured his first Power Five offer before even stepping onto the field for his high school team. Since then, he has racked up over two dozen offers from various programs across the country.

Ryan Day's Ohio State offered Moon following a phenomenal camp performance on June 5, alongside other prospects like safety Bralan Womack, cornerback Victor Singleton and cornerback Jakob Weatherspoon. The offer marked Moon's No. 27 overall and he was thrilled to revisit Columbus on Thursday.

“I really liked it a lot,” Moon said ( via Lettermen Row). “I was excited to get back up there. I was really excited to talk to Coach Day, Coach Walt and Coach Duhart. They talked about being real, how they like me and how I am a priority.”

Cornerback coach Tim Walton extended the offer and has been actively recruiting him since the spring. He also bonded with other coaches during Thursday's visit.

“Just how the coaches were. How the coaches were with me. They made me a priority. So I’ll make them a priority,” he added.

Moon's career started in 2023, when he transferred to Central Catholic High School in Pennsylvania. Despite being a freshman, he made an early impact, recording 32 tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery in his first season. His performance earned him defensive back MVP honors at the Under Armour UA Next camp at Hackensack High School in May.

With three more years of high school ahead, Moon is expected to get ample playing time, allowing his potential to be thoroughly evaluated. As of now, he remains unrated by major recruiting services like 247Sports and On3.

Which programs are in contention for Larry Moon III's pledge?

Larry Moon III has already received offers from Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Troy, Nebraska, Penn State, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, UNLV, USC, Pittsburgh, and Wisconsin, among others.

He visited some programs and wanted to visit some more schools to identify his clear fit.

"I'm just trying to see as many schools as I can, create many good relationships and really focusing on development," Moon told Rivals. "I'm trying to find a place that's like a home away from home."

While it is still early in the process, several schools have emerged as frontrunners in Moon's recruitment.

Penn State currently leads the race with a 34.0% chance of earning Moon's pledge, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. He visited Penn State last year and received his offer from head coach James Franklin and assistant coach Terry Smith in June after attending camp at the South Side practice facility.

With no prospects currently committed to the 2027 class, the program is eager to secure Moon's commitment.

Pittsburgh is also in contention, with a 13.0% chance of landing Moon, while Miami follows closely, holding a 7.5% chance.
