Sherrone Moore and the Michigan coaching staff have been actively recruiting in the last few days by extending offers and making personal visits to prospects. One of the Wolverines' key targets in the 2026 class is three-star cornerback Jaziel Hart from North Cross School in Roanoke, Virginia.
Last week, Moore and several key members of his staff, including offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Chip Lindsey, run-game coordinator and running backs coach Tony Alford, associate athletic director Sean Magee, and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, visited Hart, which left him impressed.
"I felt like I was a priority and if a coach says you're a priority and then brings his whole staff to visit you, then you know where the love stands," Hart told On3.
Michigan's defensive coordinator and safeties coach, LaMar Morgan, is leading Hart's recruitment and made a visit to see him on Friday. The Wolverines are firmly in Hart's top six, alongside Indiana, Virginia, Tennessee, Penn State and Virginia Tech.
According to On3, the Wolverines currently hold a 9.3% chance of landing Hart, but the strong efforts from the staff and current commits could improve their position in the near future.
Recruiting insider shares Jaziel Hart's potential in Michigan
Jaziel Hart is the No. 53 cornerback in the 2026 class and the No. 11 recruit in Virginia, according to On3 Industry Rankings. According to On3 Recruiting Insider EJ Holland, Hart is an ideal fit for Michigan's defense.
"He (Hart) kind of fits that Michigan kid mold," Holland said. "He's also a great player on the field, has really good length, great cover skills, and a really polished kid. Also, a big threat as a wide receiver. There is a reason Michigan's investing so much in him early on. Hart is a top priority. He's been to campus on multiple occasions."
Hart informed Michigan recruiting insider Aidan Sen about his upcoming visits, including a trip to Penn State this weekend, Indiana on Feb. 2 and Michigan in March to observe spring practices and evaluate the coaching staff. The Wolverines will need to make the most of his March visit to strengthen their chance.
