Ezavier Crowell, the nation's No. 1 running back in the 2027 class, continues to draw interest from Kalen DeBoer's Alabama. The Jackson High School (Alabama) star has been actively recruited by Crimson Tide running backs coach Robert Gillespie and is scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa on February 1 for the school's junior day event.
"I have a great relationship with the staff,” Crowell told Touchdown Alabama ahead of the upcoming visit. “The coaching staff is great.”
Crowell first made waves during his freshman season in 2023 by amassing 1,737 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns on 166 carries, along with 11 receptions for 212 yards and five touchdowns. His phenomenal performance carried over to the 2024 season, where he played a key role in leading Jackson to a state championship.
Despite being listed as a three-star prospect in On3's rating, Crowell is the consensus No. 1 prospect in Alabama and the No. 7 recruit in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Besides Alabama, his offer list includes schools like Ohio State, Texas, Auburn and Oregon, among others.
Ezavier Crowell raves about Alabama's potential in his recruitment
Ahead of the scheduled visit next month, Ezavier Crowell has been hosted by Alabama multiple times since Kalen DeBoer took over in Tuscaloosa.
From the season-opening 63-0 win against WKU on August 31 to the 28-14 win over Auburn during the Iron Bowl on Nov. 30, Crowell has made multiple game-day visits to his in-state program. These frequent visits gave the Crimson Tide an edge in his recruitment.
"I like everything about Alabama," Crowell told Rivals in September. "Great school, great fans, and atmosphere. I grew up watching the Tide with my dad. They sit at the top of my list."
Despite Alabama's season ending with a 5-3 record in the Southeastern Conference, Ezavier Crowell continues to be interested in DeBoer's program. The next step for Alabama’s coaching staff is to intensify their efforts to secure him for the 2027 class, which faced a setback on Wednesday when three-star edge rusher Ba'Roc Willis decommitted.
Alabama is now left with four-star edge rusher Jabarrius Garror and unranked wide receiver Alexander Ward in the 2027 class.
