As Colorado gets set to bid adieu to Shedeur Sanders, the Buffaloes have already filled the gap for next season by securing the commitment of five-star quarterback Julian Lewis.

Sanders was named winner of the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award before the game against Oklahoma State on Friday, and in the game, he helped the Buffaloes secure a 52-0 win. In the post-match press conference, reporters asked if he gave any advice to Lewis before leaving the role to him.

"Yeah, my main thing is to surround them and give them everything that I wish I could have had," Sanders said. "So it's basically set them up for success and everything in my power I personally could do, I'm gonna do... I'll make sure we have a superteam next year."

Second-year coach Deion Sanders has focused on bringing in elite talent to restore the program’s national prominence. On Thursday, he proved his recruiting prowess by securing commitments from four highly-rated prospects.

In just 30 minutes, the Buffs secured commitments from edge rusher London Merritt, defensive end Alexander McPherson, offensive tackle Carde Smith and wide receiver Quentin Gibson.

While Colorado’s NIL deals may not rival those of powerhouse programs like Michigan, Shedeur Sanders hinted at his willingness to support the program financially.

"I'm gonna donate to the collective for sure. Yeah, so there's tax write offs. So yeah, y 'all donate to the collective."

The early signing period for the 2025 cycle is a few days away. Colorado has had seven commitments since Oct. 25. It has a total of 15 commitments in the class, ranking No. 32 in the nation according to 247Sports at the time of this article being published.

Shedeur Sanders delivered a record-breaking performance against Oklahoma State

Shedeur Sanders capped off his senior season with a dazzling display in Colorado's win over Oklahoma State, throwing for 438 yards and five touchdowns while completing 34 of 41 passes.

With his 10-yard touchdown pass to LaJohntay Wester in the first quarter, Sanders surpassed Koy Detmer's 1996 record for single-season passing yards. He finished the year with 3,926 yards and 35 touchdowns, leading Colorado to a 9-3 record and its first non-condensed season bowl game appearance since 2016.

Sanders reflected on his excitement in a postgame video posted to Colorado's X account, saying,

"Last game at Folsom. It was legendary. Thank you to everybody for coming out. Let's get it."

The game also served as a fitting send-off for Shedeur Sanders and his brother, safety, Shilo Sanders, who were among the 21 players honored on Senior Day. Colorado has a potential title game berth still in play and needs favorable results from two of Iowa State, Arizona State and BYU to keep its championship hopes alive.
