No. 1-ranked prospect AJ Dybantsa, alongside other high school basketball players, shared a glimpse into their mindset for the year ahead in an Instagram video posted Monday. In the video, the players were asked to share what they'd like to leave behind in 2024 and what they'd carry forward into the new year.

"I'mma try to leave techs out," Dybantsa, a BYU Cougars signee, said. "What I'm bringing in: more wins, more wins and more wins."

Some other players gave similar responses to Dybantsa's, saying that they'll also be ditching technical fouls, arguments with referees and fouling out. The players also expressed their desires to win state championships and play stronger defense in the new year. One said that he's looking to have more highlight-reel dunks in the new year.

Some of the players, especially five-star power forward Tyran Stokes, took the conversation in a slightly different direction, focusing on the choice of clothing and fashion ideas to leave behind in 2024.

"If you hooping on short socks, bro, stop hooping. … Baggy shorts, people still be doing that? Pull your shorts up, bro," he said

The Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks, California) star also said that he's going to be bringing in rocking headbands as part of his game-day look this year.

"Headbands are coming back in style," he said.

Fellow BYU signee Xavion Staton teams up with AJ Dybantsa at Utah Prep

Fellow BYU signee Xavion Staton recently transferred to Utah Prep, teaming up with AJ Dybantsa. The 6-foot-7 Class of 2025 prospect had been with Sierra Vista all through his high school career but has made a transition midway into his final season of high school basketball.

Staton should be a valuable addition to already dominant Utah Prep (14-4). He'll get to play alongside Dybantsa when they face Dynamic Prep in the Iverson Classic on Friday. This will be an avenue for both players to develop on-court chemistry before joining the Cougars next season.

The Cougars have secured three signees from the Class of 2025. Four-star Orem High School star, Chamberlin Burgess, will also be teaming up with AJ Dybantsa and Xavion Staton at BYU next season.
