In a recent interview with 'BYUtv Sports Nation,' AJ Dybantsa talked about what went into his decision to play at BYU, the reception he's been receiving from BYU fans and his basketball journey.

One of the major highlights of the interview came when he was asked what exactly he'd be looking forward to developing at BYU in regard to finance:

"I mean the path that I'm going towards, I should be making a lot of money. So I need to know how to, need to know about the money." (10:16-10:27)

AJ also spoke about what it's been like since he announced his commitment to BYU. He was asked about the kind of reception he's been receiving from BYU fans:

"I mean like, I got to go on campus after I committed. They were showing a bunch of love at the halftime introduction. And there are just guys on Twitter, Instagram, showing a whole bunch of likes and comments, so it's great." (1:01-1:15)

AJ had always claimed that one key factor in his decision to commit to BYU was coach Kelvin Young's NBA experience. He believes this experience will be instrumental in preparing him for the NBA. When asked again why he saw Coach Young as the ideal option, the BYU signee didn't hesitate to restate his claim:

"I mean he's been in that position. I mean he coached some of my favorite players; Kevin Durant, Dev Booker, Chris Paul, guys I've known. So I mean if he's done it at the NBA level, he can definitely do it at the college level." (2:16-2:28)

During the interview, AJ was also asked about the biggest influences in his life. Without hesitation, he named his family.

"Most definitely, just my parents and my two sisters are like the biggest influences. My youngest sister, too much of influence, older, and my two parents." (8:46-8:59)

AJ's dad, Ace Dybantsa, played a major role in the recruitment process. According to AJ, his dad played soccer in college.

"He reminded me of Kobe Bryant": Coach Smart compares AJ Dybantsa's game to the NBA legend

Utah Prep's new coach Keith Smart didn't hold back in his admiration when speaking about No. 1-ranked prospect AJ Dybantsa. According to him, the five-star forward reminds him of NBA legend Kobe Bryant:

"The player he reminded me of the most is that guy, who, I'm sorry he passed away, Kobe Bryant. The things he does, the herky-jerky game, the long strides, the change of direction."

Keith Smart, who was recently appointed coach of Utah Prep, comes in with a lot of NBA experience after having been an NBA coach for about 20 years. Speaking on his appointment, AJ Dybantsa expressed his eagerness to learn from a coach with such experience and knowledge:

"Keith Smart is a game-changer. Having someone with his experience and knowledge is incredible. I'm excited to learn from him and grow as a player and a person. This is going to be a special season."

Unfortunately, coach Keith Smart wouldn't have the opportunity to work with AJ for long as he will be departing Utah Prep by the end of the season to begin his college basketball career at BYU.
