The Michigan Wolverines and new head coach Sherrone Moore continue to make huge strides in recruiting top-tier players. The latest prospect to rave about their effort is four-star wide receiver Taz Williams from Red Oak High School in Texas. Williams' recent visit to Ann Arbor marked his third trip to the Wolverines, which definitely impressed him.

Williams had not visited Michigan in nearly a year, and he was eager to see the changes and improvements within the program, as he shared with On3:

“It was good to get to know the coaches outside of football. Obviously, we talk football all the time. It was also good to get to spend some time with the recruits and commits. I really like the culture and environment up there. Everyone is like family.”

This visit marked Williams' first in-person meeting with Moore, while Michigan’s wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy has been diligently recruiting the prospect to ensure that he feels valued and wanted at the school. A standout moment for Williams during his visit was the presentation of the program's strength and conditioning program:

“I never seen anything like that. They even have somebody that knows sports medicine and the weight room part of it. I really liked that.”

Williams also enjoyed quality time with player host I’Marion Stewart and some of the commits in his class. New offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell noted how valuable and versatile Williams would be in Michigan’s offense. As a result of this visit, his interest in Michigan has heightened:

“This visit definitely helped Michigan. Don’t be surprised if it is the school I pick when I commit in July."

According to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, Moore's program is currently the favorite to land Williams, with a 67.5% chance of securing his commitment.

Taz Williams nears decision on his college football future

Taz Williams is focusing on his options as he prepares to announce his college decision on July 13. He recently visited SMU, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Penn State, and Michigan, and has narrowed his choices to four schools: Michigan, Penn State, SMU, and Texas A&M. However, seemingly, Michigan and Penn State are the leading contenders in his recruitment.

Taz Williams visited Penn State this month as an official visitor, and he liked their vision for the new offensive scheme under offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki.

“Penn State was great,” Williams told On3. “It was better than I thought it was gonna be. I would say it exceeded my expectations. I loved how they broke my film down and also showed me how I will fit in the new offense."

As the No. 326 overall prospect in the nation, Williams holds the No. 48 spot among wide receivers in the 2025 recruiting class and ranks as the No. 50 player in Texas, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. 247 Sports places him as the No. 71 wide receiver and the No. 50 player in Texas.

Taz Williams' phenomenal performance in the junior season saw him record 80 receptions, 1,251 yards, and 14 touchdowns.
