Five-star recruit AJ Dybantsa talked about his aspirations for a signature shoe with Nike on Monday on "Podcast P with Paul George." Dybantsa, the top-ranked prospect in the Class of 2025, is making waves not only for his on-court talent but for his potential off-court opportunities.
While replying to the question on whether he had already thought about a signature shoe, the $2 million NIL-valued Dybantsa said (per On3):
“I never thought about what it would look like but I definitely thought about having some colorways in mind already.” (1:16:20)
Currently attending Utah Prep, AJ Dybantsa has received 29 scholarship offers and has visited schools such as Alabama and North Carolina.
With BYU appearing to lead the race for his commitment, it looks increasingly likely that the Cougars could gain the services of a player predicted to be a top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
If a signature shoe line with Nike becomes a reality, Dybantsa will join the ranks of a young lineup that already includes stars like Bronny James, DJ Wagner, Caitlin Clark and JuJu Watkins.
AJ Dybantsa has high hopes for his NBA draft
AJ Dybantsa has confidently asserted that if he were eligible for the NBA draft next season, he would bet on himself to be the No. 1 overall pick over fellow phenoms Cooper Flagg and Ace Bailey.
When Paul George asked where he ranks himself in the future class, Dybantsa said:
“Yeah I bet on myself. Always bet on yourself.” (1:18:15)
While Flagg and Bailey are touted as exceptional prospects in their own right, Dybantsa's perspective illustrates a unique confidence that may set him apart.
Flagg displays promising playmaking skills with the Duke Blue Devils in preseason games, while Bailey impresses with his athletic prowess and versatility. Both players are anticipated to be top picks in the 2025 draft, making Dybantsa's position as a future contender even more intriguing.
