NFL legend "Coach Prime" Deion Sanders knows several other legends. He used this status to have his son, Shedeur Sanders, meet with some of them. This happened when the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback was still in high school in Oct. 2019.

The meeting happened when Shedeur was going home from football practice with Trinity Christian High School. As he arrived at his house, several of his father's former Dallas Cowboys teammates, including Tony Tolbert, Nate Newton and Hall of Famer Charles Haley, were present. Shedeur was surprised to see them.

"If he tells me 'come home,' I'm thinking, 'okay he's about giving the chain,'" Shedeur said. "I didn't know it was gonna be his teammates." (2:02 - 2:16)

Deion Sanders explained that this was for his son's own good.

"I wanted Shedeur to stop by so he can understand balling," Sanders said. "Get a whole 'nother level." (2:19-2:23)

After the usual greetings, Shedeur Sanders said he was expecting his dad's friends to just tell old NFL stories. However, his expectations were proven wrong when Charles Haley started frankly telling him that this would not be easy.

"Oh my God, you know what do you keep talkin," said the Hall of Famer. "See that will depress me. We had a respect for pops and you a grown man and what you did on that field, but you're peeing on yourself. Y'all afraid." (2:34-2:57)

Haley continued to fire up the younger Sanders, while Deion kept on egging him on, all while Nate Newton was laughing in the background.

Before he coached his son over at Colorado, Deion Sanders was Trinity Christian High School's offensive coordinator. As for Shedeur Sanders as a high school player, he was rated a four-star who completed 251-of-366 pass attempts for 3,702 yards and 43 touchdowns.

Tony Tolbert adviced Shedeur Sanders too

Cowboys legend Tony Tolbert also gave Shedeur Sanders a piece of advice during that gathering, telling him that his name represents a lot and that there will be plenty of expectations for him to succeed. He then told the young quarterback to be humble, but Charles Haley contradicted him.

“Don’t Be F*cking Humble!” said Hailey. (3:16-3:18)

This led to everyone to start laughing.

When he was playing for the Dallas Cowboys, Coach Prime won the Super Bowl XXX. He retired after the 2005 NFL season and started coaching Trinity Christian High School in 2017 before teaching college football with Jackson State in 2020. He then started coaching Colorado in 2023.
