Following in the footsteps of his father, NBA great Carmelo Anthony, Kiyan Anthony is blazing his own trail. The No. 34 nationally ranked recruit by 247Sports shared some intriguing thoughts about his future in basketball on Angel Reese's podcast ‘Unapologetically Angel.’
When Reese asked if Anthony was focused on the NBA or would rather enjoy two to three years of college first, the Long Island Lutheran senior said:
“If one-and-done happens, it happens."
However, Kiyan Anthony also said there's no hard and fast rule, and he’d be willing to stay for the second year if the circumstances demanded it.
“If it's like an opportunity where I could stay two years and then go to the league like that, that can happen too.”
Anthony also credited NIL deals to offer him the space to explore all his options.
“Obviously with NIL and everything [you're] still going to get paid... Yeah, so [obviously] you still making money if you are in college or if you are in a league,” he added.
Where does Kiyan Anthony stand in terms of NIL deals and valuation?
The guard is one of the most popular names in high school basketball. ESPN named him No. 1 in New York’s class of 2025 back in August.
Kiyan averaged 9.2 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game last year for Long Island Lutheran. He also made 23 of his 60 attempts from the 3-point line (38.3%).
He registered 19.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in Nike’s EYBL.
His impressive performances have put him on the radar of several renowned programs across the country. Likewise, his stellar high school career has attracted several NIL deals. According to On3, Anthony has an NIL value of $1.1 million. That puts him in the 11th spot, with AJ Dybantsa sitting on top with his $2 million NIL valuation, as per On3.
In September 2023, Kiyan signed an NIL deal with PSD, a premium underwear brand. He also models for Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation and has partnered with Nerf.
