The No. 1 prospect in the 2025 top women’s basketball recruits, Aaliyah Chavez, is a force to be reckoned with on the court. The 5-foot-9 point guard from Monterey High School played a pivotal role for her team, CyFair, during the Nike Girls EYBL 2024.

The Texas native’s confidence and focus on winning make her a standout player. In a season overview video shared on Nike Girls EYBL’s X handle on October 26, 2024, Aaliyah Chavez exudes the same confidence level.

In the recap video, the elite prospect made it clear that she was there to win the championship and would settle for nothing less.

“I am coming to prove a point, like I am coming to win it," she stated.

Her determination set the tone for the CyFair as they aimed for the much-coveted championship title. The video further captured the intensity of the tournament and showcased how the games swung back and forth.

Recalling the close calls during the matches, Chavez said:

“It was all over the place; you know, we were up for a lot, and then they came back tight enough, and then we went back up, and then they got ahead. So it's all over the place; I think once they started getting hit, I knew that it was time to take over and put this game away.”

Despite facing the challenges during the games, Chavez expressed pride in her teammates who stepped up when she struggled:

“It was great. You know I am very excited and proud of my teammates for pushing through. I struggled a little bit in the last game, but they found ways to score, and we pulled it off.”

The collective efforts of Aaliyah Chavez and the other team members, including Jemini Mitchell and the senior guard Aniya Foy, helped their team claim the Nike Girls EYBL 2024 championship.

Aaliyah Chavez has had an awe-inspiring run at the Nike EYBL circuit. She scored 29.6 points, grabbed 4.3 rebounds, and dished out 3.7 assists per game. Chavez remains a hot target for multiple Division 1 programs, but she has yet to commit.
