Kiyan Anthony, a four-star recruit, performed well at the 2025 Hoophall Classic on Monday. The Long Island Lutheran shooting guard reshared a post with the caption, “All eyes on 3 🍊” to celebrate his performance at the game.
The post showcased a collection of Anthony’s pictures from the game against La Lumiere, including the one with the MVP award.
LuHi won against La Lumiere 68-55. Anthony led LuHi with 16 points, along with Kayden Mingo, who contributed 13 points, six rebounds and four assists. Kayden’s brother, Dylan Mingo, added 12 points and two steals. Nico Onyekwere also contributed to the team with 10 points and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Darius Adams, a four-star recruit, led La Lumiere with 17 points. Melvin Bell Jr. also contributed with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Long Island Lutheran, the 25th-ranked team according to the National On3 Composite Team Rankings, improved to 10-5, while La Lumiere, ranked 84th on the national team list, came down to a 5-11 record.
This victory also marked LuHi's third consecutive win against La Lumiere. Moreover, it extended their winning streak to eight games. This also puts them at the top position in New York high school basketball rankings, according to On3.
Meleek Thomas and La La Anthony react to Kiyan Anthony and Kayden Mingo’s Performances
Arkansas signee Meleek Thomas was impressed by Kiyan Anthony and Kayden Mingo’s performance at the Spalding Hoophall Classic. Thomas expressed his admiration by commenting:
“Both the goods @_kaydenmingo @kiyananthony,” on a highlight reel shared by SportsCenter NEXT on Instagram.
La La Anthony, TV personality and Kiyan’s mother, also shared her joy and pride. She took to Instagram to share a snippet from the game with the caption:
“Back at it!!! @kiyananthony”
Father Carmelo Anthony, a 10-time NBA All-Star, was also seen in attendance at the game. Regarding his team’s victory, Kiyan Anthony told Newsday:
“Hoophall is one of the biggest showcases in the world. Coming back from injury and not playing so well recently... I just came out here and showed my skill, talent and everything I've been working on."
Having played at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, the Syracuse signee said:
"I'm pretty sure my dad's going to be back here, and I look forward to coming back. Coming back this year, I knew what type of role I was going to have on the team."
Kiyan would hope to translate his high school performance at the college level and in the NBA later.
