Four-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant, from Harper Woods High School in Michigan, is one of the most promising sophomores in the nation. He visited Ohio State for an up-close experience with the Buckeyes as they secured a hard-fought 21-17 win over Nebraska on Oct. 26.
Guerrant’s visit was well-received, and he left the campus seemingly more drawn to the Buckeyes. He was spotted sporting Ohio State's scarlet and gray colors in his following playoff game last Friday, where he helped lead his Harper Woods Pioneers to a decisive 46-6 victory over Redford Union.
Ohio State's coaching staff, including wide receivers coach Brian Hartline and cornerbacks coach Tim Walton, offered Guerrant a spot after he impressed them during a summer recruiting camp in June. Besides Ohio State, he has received offers from Auburn, Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Tennessee, among others.
The trip to Ryan Day's program on Oct. 26 was his second game-day visit to Ohio State this season. Speaking with On3, he opened up about the experience, saying,
"The visit is very good because I got to know them a little more."
CBS Sports college football analyst Tom Lemming praised Guerrant for his "exceptional hands, body control, burst, leaping ability and concentration." He is ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings as the No. 23 prospect in the nation, the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2027 class, and the No. 2 recruit in Michigan.
Ohio State has shown interest in Guerrant as both a wide receiver and a defensive back. The Buckeyes are yet to secure any commitments in the 2027 class, so potentially securing Guerrant would be a massive first step.
Michigan leads the race for Dakota Guerrant's commitment
Dakota Guerrant is known for his dynamic performance with outstanding ball skills and is a consensus top-10 wide receiver in the 2027 class in Michigan. He made eight visits to in-state Wolverines so far, and the school has emerged as his early suitor with a 50.2% chance of securing his commitment.
The connection to Michigan is also strengthened by Guerrant's ties to the program, as he was a former teammate of Jacob Oden, a defensive back currently on the Wolverines’ roster. He also plays for Rod Oden, who is Jacob’s father and played as a fullback for Michigan.
Sherrone Moore and his coaching staff at Michigan have been actively recruiting top talent for the classes of 2025 and 2026. The 2027 class has yet to secure any commitments, but the Wolverines are laying the groundwork by extending offers to multiple standout prospects.
These include quarterback Elijah Haven, running back Ezavier Crowell, wide receiver Ethan Feaster, tight end Holden Niemi, offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller and edge rusher Recarder Kitchen, among others.
