Bryson Tiller and his family visited the University of Kansas on Wednesday. In a post shared on Kansas Men’s Basketball's Instagram page, Tiller was seen flanked by his mom and dad posing for photos on the court that he would call home for the foreseeable future. The post was captioned:
“Welcome home, Bryson and family.”
A five-star prospect, Tiller, will play college basketball with the Jayhawks after signing with the school last November. The Jayhawks beat the likes of Auburn, Georgia Tech and Indiana to sign the 25th overall star in the Class of 2025, as per On3 rankings.
Jayhawks coach Bill Self said the 6-foot-10 power forward is expected to start training with the team soon after enrolling early in November.
“He won’t do anything today because he can’t, but hopefully starting tomorrow he can do some things,” Self said on Tuesday. “I don’t know if he’ll participate in full practice yet starting tomorrow — we’ll wait and see how he’s feeling with his foot — but all indications are that’s just a little time away, if any, Self said.
Tiller was sidelined with an ankle injury for the last six months and is set to redshirt for the 2024-25 season. He's set to do some individual training before he joins the team.
“I don’t know if they’re going to turn him fully loose (in practice) until they get a chance to evaluate him on how he does with some things,” Self said. “But no, we’re anticipating him being able to do individuals, some competitive things, but probably not up and down, at least until we’re able to evaluate him,” Self added.
Bryson Tiller to link up with Darryn Peterson in Kansas
Bryson Tiller is not the only top recruit to commit to Kansas as the Jayhawks also have the No. 1 shooting guard and the third-ranked prospect, Darryn Peterson.
Both players are expected to make the Jayhawks competitive. Tiller is one of the top players in the Overtime Elite, winning the championship with the City Reapers in back-to-back seasons.
In his last season at the club, Tiller finished top three in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.
