Three-time NBA All-Star Derrick Rose officially announced his partnership with SLAM, featuring exclusive Simeone High School merch.
On Friday, in an Instagram post, SLAM announced the collab.
"Derrick Rose defined a generation of basketball," the post read. "SLAM Presents D Rose is the ultimate Derrick Rose issue with 100 pages of the past present and future."
In his senior year at his alma mater, Simeone High School, Derrick Rose was ranked the fifth-best prospect in the nation by Sports Illustrated and was honored as Illinois Mr. Basketball. He led Simeone to become the first Chicago Public League School to clinch two state championships.
Rose's love for his alma mater and the athletes did not go unnoticed. Last year November, when the SLAM team visited Simeone High to shoot the magazine cover, Rose had a surprise planned out for the basketball squad.
Derrick Rose names his biggest life lesson
On Friday, in an exclusive interview with SLAM, Derrick Rose spoke about his most significant life lesson.
"I would say to cherish the moment," Rose said. "When you look up the definition of cherish, it means to protect, too. Not only to remember but to protect. If I could tell the kids, I wish that I could have held on to the memories a little bit more because it was a blur."
Rose also mentioned his top three on-court moments.
"I would say [winning] MVP, my first game as a rookie, and the third one would be the 50-point game in Minnesota."
On being asked about his hobbies and interests after his retirement, he said:
"It’s a lot to do with that camera right there. Figuring out if I want to be a director or producer ... I’ve put in tens of thousands of hours in watching documentaries and films, weird docs and great docs. And now it’s all about taking the courage to actually be behind the camera and to voice my opinion."
His short film, "Becoming a Rose," is set to make its debut at Saturday's game between the Bulls and the New York Knicks. The film is Derrick's tribute to Chicago and was made in collaboration with Adidas.
In December, Rose inked a deal with Adidas as a way to give back to his alma mater, Simeone High. The deal consisted of providing uniforms to students featuring Rose's signature logo.
