Jake Balanovich, a senior at Cypress Bay, got an opportunity of a lifetime when he competed with seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady in a quarterback challenge. It was hosted by YouTuber 'Mr. Beast' on Nov. 4. The winner of the contest was set to win $100,000, and the competition did not disappoint.

Balanovich was a random selection as he did not know beforehand about being a part of the grand opportunity. Mr. Beast connected with the Cypress Bay Lightning's coach Bret Hood about linking up for this contest and he immediately accepted the offer.

The event required the quarterbacks to complete the obstacles in front of them and Balanovich did that with his last throw as the ball bounced before hitting the final balloon. The quarterback shed light on the opportunity to face off against the greatest quarterback of all time and beating him.

"It felt surreal knowing that I just beat the GOAT, who is known for his accuracy, in a throwing competition," Balanovich said, as per Sports Illustrated. "And on top of that, doing it in a Mr. Beast video. Mr. Beast is the GOAT of YouTube. Never in my dreams could I have ever envisioned this happening."

Jake Balanovic became an instant sensation after his impressive performance and he hopes that this newfound fame will help him realize his dream of playing college football next year.

Jake Balanovich had an impressive senior year for the Cypress Bay Lightning

Jake Balanovich played his senior year for Cypress Bay and had a great campaign. In his two seasons with the Lightning, the quarterback racked up 1,581 yards on a 60.6% completion rate.

However, the bulk of his brilliance came in his senior year when he tallied 1,551 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions while averaging 155.1 yards per game and a quarterback rating of 101.9.

Balanovich also had a great rushing season with the Lightning, accumulating 853 yards on 70 carries and 12 touchdowns. The young signal-caller became a household name after beating the legendary quarterback Tom Brady in an exhibition contest.

Cypress Bay had a decent season this year, finishing with a record of 6-4. The Lightning had a better record the previous year, going 8-3 with Devin Gonzalez under center. He threw 28 touchdown passes and passed for 1,859 yards.
